When the Government announced the lockdown to try and prevent further spread of the Coronavirus / Covid-19 on Friday 27th March, the list of what could be described as ‘Essential Retail Outlets’ was again revised and further restricted.

As of Friday 6pm on the 27th March 2020, Lenehans hardware store on Capel Street, Dublin 1 and Lenehans Click & Collect Centre in Rathnew, Co. Wicklow were closed.

Our stores will remain closed temporarily until the Government decides that it is safe for us to open our doors again for our customers.

Unfortunately, our stores both in Capel Street and Rathnew being closed means that we are unable to offer a Click & Collect service while the restrictions are in place.

Collection is not a possibility so this cannot be organised through our website or over the phone. It is in the interests of every person in Ireland that we all follow the guidelines while the virus is still present in our country.

We are very happy to still be included as an ‘Essential Retail Outlet’ when it comes to deliveries throughout the country.

Our website remains open for our customers, new and returning customers, for any D.I.Y needs they experience at this time.

With so many stores around the country now closed, the volume of orders we are receiving is significantly higher. At this time especially we have to take great care for our staff members safety and ensure social distancing at all times. All of this means that there are delays in processing customers orders and we are unable to adhere to our next day delivery service promise.

Please be understanding of these delaying factors and know that we are doing our very best to process and dispatch orders as soon as possible.

When the volume of orders waiting to be dispatched gets too high we are finding it necessary to pause the income of new orders, just until we have most of the waiting orders dispatched. To do this we keep our website open but we disable the checkout. If, when browsing, you find that even though you have items in your basket but you cannot proceed to the final step of the checkout, please don’t contact us thinking that it is some technical error. Check our customer update message on the front page of our website and this will let you know if the checkout has been disabled due to the high volume of waiting orders.

Our Couriers, An Post, are dealing with an extremely high volume of deliveries due to the current situation. If you have received your shipment email from us with your tracking information but it is showing as ‘not recognised’ when you try to track your order on the An Post website, it is possible that there could be a delay in An Post registering your order’s tracking number. Please be patient as this is only a delay and your order is still en route to you.

Many customers are finding this lockdown time a great time to do some home painting & decorating. We would love to be able to facilitate every customer with this. However, unfortunately due to the high volume of deliveries that An Post couriers  are dealing with we have been restricted with how much paint they will carry. This means that each order is limited to only a small amount. If you have ordered more than we are able to send we will cancel the items and issue you with a refund.

Our website will continue to take new orders for delivery nationwide for as long as the following conditions continue to be met:

  • Our staff can work safely and we can meet social distancing rules
  • Our supply chain stays open
  • Our couriers continue to deliver

We thank you all for supporting our Irish family business during these uncertain times.

Stay Safe & Stay Home.
