Bitumen Paint Blog Header

Bitumen Paint is designed to be waterproof and weatherproof.

Protect the roof of your home from the elements this year with our range of Bituminous Paint for roofs.

Already our dry, drought season has been met with the welcoming (for some!) and refreshing appearance of rain.

While the sun still shines and we are not completely out of the summer season, it may be the time to consider rainproofing for the wetter autumn months ahead.

Bitumen paint is a thick black liquid. It is designed to protect roofs and roads, depending on the type you use.

We stock a range of bituminous paint for roofs.

The great thing about using this type of paint is that some bituminous paint will even fill any small cracks and tears in the roof when the coating is applied,  the likes of Bostik Bituminous Mastic For Waterproofing Roofs (Available in sizes 1.2L and 2.5L) and Tec7 Roof (Available in sizes 1kg and 5kg).

For bigger cracks in the roof it is recommended to add a glass fibre membrane into the crack or hole and then paste over with the bitumen paint.

It is always best to apply Bitumen Paint to a clean and dry surface. However, it can be possible to paint it onto a wet roof if conditions do not allow for the alternative. It will take longer to dry when painted onto a wet roof. It is always best to check the instructions on the paint before you begin your job as they can differ. Thompson's 10 Year Roof Seal allows you to paint directly onto a damp surface.

Bitumen paint is designed to be flexible so that it can flex with the natural movement of your roof.

Preparation is always key. Consider waterproofing your home and protect your roof with Bitumen Paint.
