Gardening In The Greenhouse - January Blog

 

The good weather has continued throughout the winter this year! For some, tending to the greenhouse in January may have been a daunting task. Hopefully this January we can tackle the gardening with a lot more motivation and enthusiasm! Plenty to do and plenty to look forward to...

Maintain temperature above 45°F / 7°C

Keep plants well lit but cover if possibility of frost

Water plants according to their individual needs

Don’t wet plants or staging to avoid diseases

Check for slugs or pests

Order seeds and compost ready for spring

Feed spring flowering bulbs i.e. Hyacinth, Crocus and Narcissus

Store Polyanthus and container-grown Roses inside

Take Chrysanthemum cuttings

Pot up rooted seedlings, such as Pelargonium

Sow some bedding plants in a heated propagator, ie Lobelia, Verbena and Carnations

Plant Early Potatoes for cropping in May
