Like the Coca-Cola company, with time 3M Scotchgard have had to change their ingredients to keep up to date with ever changing environmental issues. However their product has stayed as popular as ever and their range has grown and expanded.

Scotchgard is designed to be used on clothing, accessories, upholstery fabrics, soft furnishings, textiles and carpets. It protects them. Many products these days claim to protect clothes and textiles but they generally protect them whilst in the wash or are said to leave behind protection as you clean the existing damage. Scotchgard protects clothes and fabric while you wear them and while you are using them!

What makes Scotchgard so unique is that it can literally turn your clothes and fabrics into waterproof material. Spills, stains, rainwater, they will all just run off the material leaving behind no marks or residue. How does Scotchgard do this? They use a chemical known as PFBS which acts as a stable fluorosurfactant. This means that PFBS has multiple atoms that lower the surface tension of water meaning the liquids won’t penetrate the material. So no need to run out and buy waterproof clothing or protective covers. Simply protect your fabrics with Scotchgard and let your stress drift out the window in the knowledge your fabrics will remain free from stains and soilage.
