A first-class, deliciously flavoured onion with a good strong red colour, both inside and out. The bulbs are a very uniform round to globe shape, with thin necks, show good tolerance to mildew, and store well.
Growing Information
Onion F1 Kamal SeedSow maincrop onions March-April outdoors, and thin early. For very large onions sow December-early January and transplant seedlings in spring. To store - lift and allow to dry in full sun, and hang in ropes in cool airy conditions. (24 weeks maturity.)
Sowing Information
Sow thinly into finely raked, firmed soil at a depth of 13mm ( 1?2") in rows 30cm (12") apart. Thin seedings to 50mm (2") between plants. Use thinning as tasty salad onions. Can also be sown 3 or 4 seeds per small pot in a propagator or greenhouse at approx. 15-20oC (60-68oF) eventually planting outside in well prepared soil. Water freely during dry weather. To assist ripening in late summer do not bend leaves over but gently lift bulbs with a garden fork. Finish ripening outdoors, lifting in mid-September.
