How to Use:

Preparation:

• Ensure the surface is clean, dry, and free from wax, dust, or contaminants.

• If previously varnished, strip old varnish with Rustins Strypit Paint & Varnish Stripper, or sand with fine glasspaper.

• Remove wax by rubbing with white spirit and steel wool, wiping away residue while wet.

• Fill any cracks with wood filler and smooth out rough grains with grain filler if necessary.

• If using Rustins Wood Dye, apply it before varnishing.

Application:

• Stir well before use to ensure an even gloss finish.

• Apply liberally using a synthetic brush, working with the grain.

• On hot days, dilute the first coat with up to 15% water for easier application.

• Apply three coats for best results, lightly sanding after the first coat to remove grain raising.

• Avoid application in direct sunlight or if rain is expected.

Re-coating & Drying:

• The first coat will be touch dry in 30 minutes and ready for a second coat in 2 hours.

• Successive coats of coloured varnish will darken the finish—apply a clear topcoat to maintain the preferred shade.

Cleaning & Disposal:

• Clean brushes immediately with water after use.

• Hardened brushes can be restored with Rustins Brush Restorer.

• Do not pour excess varnish into drains or watercourses; check local disposal regulations.
