- Rustins Shellac Sanding Sealer contains pure shellac and alcohol with a special additive included to facilitate sanding when dry.
- It should be used to seal the surface prior to French polishing and waxing, but is often used as a finish in its own right, as it dries to a hard, clear film.
- Sanding Sealer should also be used to seal penetrating wood dyes to prevent them bleeding when varnishes containing white spirits are applied
